Baked Gingerbread Mini Donuts- December 2015

This recipe yields about twenty donuts!

Ingredients-
For the Donuts:
- 1 cup flour
- ¾ teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon ginger
- pinch of allspice
- pinch of cloves
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ brown sugar
- 1 egg
- ¼ cup applesauce
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
For the Glaze:
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons milk
- ¾ cup powdered sugar
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Mix all dry ingredients for the donuts
- Stir in moist ingredients. Pour batter into a gallon-sized plastic bag and cut the corner off.
- Pipe the batter into a greased mini-donut pan, filling each donuts space about ½ full.
- Bake for about 7-8 minutes and remove from oven. Take each donut out of the pan to cool aside.
- Onto the glaze… melt the butter and whisk in other ingredients. Keep over low heat to keep from crystalizing.
- Add the powdered sugar and use the last tablespoon of milk to think out the glaze if needed.
- Keep over low heat to prevent it from crystalizing. Dunk each mini donut into the glaze and set on wax paper. The glaze will set quickly.
